An Act of God
Hi Friends,
I am writing about three visions that the Lord gave me yesterday while in prayer. Each of them is quite different, yet they work together to give a more complete picture of The Lord’s message to us. It is a call to get right with God.
The Visions
First I see a soft, blue blanket.
Then, I see two men sitting on a small set of bleachers about 3 rows high and about 8-10 feet in length. Immediately behind these short bleachers and facing in the opposite direction are rows and rows of very tall bleachers. These bleachers face an outdoor arena like a high school football field. The smaller bleachers on which the men are sitting, are on the grass, with nothing in front of them, no field or sporting event. The men are engaged in conversation.
Next, I see two hands holding a globe. Then there is a closeup view is of an island to the right of the mainland. With the right hand, I see an island being peeled off the globe as one might peel off a sticker.
What I believe the visions mean:
The Blue Blanket
A blanket represents comfort, or a covering. The Biblical meaning of the color blue may represent God, heaven and service to God.
Yesterday, I was experiencing a headache which was then already three days old. After praying, and binding and loosening, the pain did not lift. I had two others pray for me, and still it did not lift, so I decided to fast, to break the hold of this headache. I could do nothing but pray, walk and watch a bit of television. I alternated these activities, doing almost no talking throughout the day. The blue blanket may have been God offering his peace and comfort to me. I had little energy, but still managed to take two long prayer walks. As we draw closer to God, he gives us his comfort and his peace. Today as I am writing this, I am about 90% better. Thank you Jesus!
I also find comfort in God’s presence and in his word. This is a most comforting passage of scripture:
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” John 14:15-21
It is wonderful to know that even when we don’t understand why things happen as they do, the Lord is still there, forever faithful. “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5
Two Men on Bleachers
This vision speaks of victory. Not the victory of a football game, but a victory of a changed life. These two men I believe represent changed hearts. Men throughout the world, seem to be interested in sports, and many are highly passionate about following their team. American men even play “fantasy football,” creating a team from their favorite NFL players. It is competitive as well as a form of gambling.
My husband has been following world soccer too, because our son-in-law enjoys cheering on his favorite team: Liverpool. He even named his oldest son, Xavi after a famous soccer player.
The men who follow world soccer, are quite passionate. There is always the sound of men singing in the background. I am amazed by this—I guess it is a cultural thing. Few American men sing—even for the American anthem, they usually just listen.
But regardless of the game, men shout and celebrate each touchdown, or each goal as if it were the most important thing in life. I remember years ago, having lunch with a client and a sales rep. They were both men who agreed that if their team won on the weekend, they would have a great week, feeling on top of their game, at work. But, if their team lost on the weekend, it would affect them greatly. The week ahead would prove to be miserable.
But this vision of the two men is good news to me. The large bleachers facing the field, represent the world and all its attractions. The small bleachers are facing away from the world and from the world’s values. These two men sitting on the small bleachers are turning their backs to the things that had formerly captivated their hearts. They have decided to look away, to no longer be enamored with what the world has to offer, but instead, follow the ways of the Lord. This is a real victory!
God wants to show us that our family members and those for whom we pray will eventually come into the kingdom of God. He encourages us with visions like these, to let us know that our prayers and intercession have not gone unnoticed. These two men may represent your husbands, your sons or sons-in-law. The Lord is about seeking and saving the lost—trust him!
God is faithful: “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” John 14:14
So we pray that the Lord will move mountains in our loved ones lives, and that they would respond to the call of God and receive his salvation!
The Globe
This is a most serious vision. I believe that the hands that hold the globe are the Lord’s. I believe that the globe represents the world, and the island that is being peeled off like a sticker, is God’s judgment. As I am writing this, the Bahamas have been pummeled by the hurricane, Dorian.
Not wanting to immediately assume that the vision represented The Bahamas, I looked around the globe to find any land masses that appeared to be like this vision. The two that most closely resemble the vision are Madagascar off the coast of Africa, and Taiwan off the coast of China. They are both vertical islands twice as long as they are wide and both to the east of the mainland.
This vision of the island being removed from the earth, represents God’s judgement. In the book of Revelation, the Lord speaks of removing a lamp-stand. “Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp-stand from its place.” Revelation 2:5
This warning was written to the church in Ephesus. God brings judgement against the church as well as the unbelieving nations. I am not certain this was a judgement against The Bahamas. Yet the Lord’s timing is amazing. At the time I was given this vision, Dorian, a category 5 hurricane, was stalled over the island nation. There were two large areas of high pressure to the east and to the west of the hurricane, keeping the storm stationary. The Bahamas are in dire straits with hospitals out of commission, and people having to move from one shelter to another because of flooding.
I have had about 20 visions of judgment, that I have posted. The judgments are for a variety of causes. But this vision, I believe, explains God’s reasoning about why he brings judgment: “Judgment, Mercy, Judgment, Mercy…”
God brings judgment against individuals and nations to capture the people’s attention. He basically says “You’ve gone too far. You have transgressed my ways.” He brings judgment in order to show his mercy. That is why in the vision above I heard a voice saying, “Judgement, Mercy, Judgment, Mercy…..”
“The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Hebrews 12:6
When Christians, backsliders, and unbelievers experience circumstances beyond their control, very often they will turn to God in repentance, as they cry our for help. The Lord hears their cries for help and responds with his great love and mercy. He then delivers them with his power and shows them his salvation.
Now this is not always the case, for people can be very stubborn. The Lord referred to his people as a stiff-necked and stubborn people:
“‘I have seen these people,’ the Lord said to Moses, ‘and they are a stiff-necked people. Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.’”
“But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. ‘Lord,’ he said, ‘why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, “It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth?” Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: “I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.” Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.” Exodus 32:9-14
In the case above, the Lord’s true desire was to wipe them from the face of the earth, but Moses interceded for them and the Lord changed his mind. In the following passages, The Lord speaks to the prophet Amos regarding his unfaithful people. He tried to get their attention and for them to seek him, yet again they were stubborn, and willful. They would not submit to the Lord’s authority, honor him, or return his love. You will see the outcome:
“‘I gave you empty stomachs in every city and lack of bread in every town, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord. “I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up. People staggered from town to town for water but did not get enough to drink, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord.”
“‘Many times I struck your gardens and vineyards, destroying them with blight and mildew. Locusts devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord.”
“‘I sent plagues among you as I did to Egypt. I killed your young men with the sword, along with your captured horses. I filled your nostrils with the stench of your camps, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord.”
“‘I overthrew some of you as I overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. You were like a burning stick snatched from the fire, yet you have not returned to me,’ declares the Lord.”
“‘Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel, and because I will do this to you, Israel, prepare to meet your God.’” Amos 4:6-12
Wow!
Earlier, I had asked the Lord to show me something to shed light on this vision these are the passages that he gave me from the Book of Micah:
Micah is speaking as if he were a wayward Israelite:
“With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
Micah responding to them:
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you—but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
The voice changes from Micah’s to the Lord’s:
“Listen! The Lord is calling to the city—and to fear your name is wisdom—Heed the rod and the one who appointed it.
Am I still to forget your ill-gotten treasures, you wicked house, and the short ephah, which is accursed? Shall I acquit the man with dishonest scales, with a bag of false weights?
Your rich men are violent; your inhabitants are liars, and their tongues speak deceitfully. Therefore, I have begun to destroy you, to ruin you because of your sins.
You shall eat, but not be satisfied; your stomach will still be empty. You will store up but save nothing, because what you save I will give to the sword. You will plant but not harvest; you will press olives, but not use the oil; you will crush grapes, but not drink the wine.
You have observed the statutes of Omri, and all the practices of Ahab’s house; you have followed their traditions. Therefore I will give you over to ruin and your people to derision; you will bear the scorn of the nations.”
What Micah witnesses:
What misery is mine! I am like one who gathers summer fruit at the gleaning of the vineyard; there is no cluster of grapes to eat, none of the early figs that I crave.
The faithful have been swept from the land; not one upright person remains. Everyone lies in wait to shed blood; they hunt each other with nets.
Both hands are skilled in doing evil; the ruler demands gifts, the judge accepts bribes, the powerful dictate what they desire—they all conspire together.
The best of them is like a brier; the most upright worse than a thorn hedge. The day God visits you has come, the day your watchmen sound the alarm. Now is the time of your confusion.
Micah trusts God:
“But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me….Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. Because I have sinned against him, I will bear the Lord’s wrath, until he pleads my case and upholds my cause. He will bring me out into the light; I will see his righteousness.…Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. You will be faithful to Jacob, and show love to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our ancestors in days long ago.” Micah 7: 7-9 and 18-20
I believe the vision of the island is definitely a warning vision. It may not be a specific country, or specific region, as The Bahamas, Taiwan or Madagascar. Nevertheless, it is a call to get right with God. Moses interceded for the Israelites, and God changed his mind.
We should also intercede for those around the globe, as well as our governmental leaders and those in authority: “I urge then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. by God.” Romans 13:1-2
I believe that we have been blessed as a nation, because our forefathers honored God. But now our nation is in rebellion. We have turned from his ways, and from honoring him. I believe that we will see either a revival because enough of us are praying for changed hearts, to become a holy people and a holy nation—or we will see God’s judgment.
People can blame the severe weather on “global warming,” or they can get it right and declare what it truly is: an ACT OF GOD. We have not yet seen the damage that Dorian will cause to the US, but we can either pray for mercy and that the storm will shoot further east to lessen the impact, or we can just eat our popcorn, and watch the weather news and say, “Yep- that’s global warming, for you! ” or “It’s just mother nature, doing her thing.”
Wake up Church! Wake up everyone! This is God’s calling card. Will you take notice and seek him? Will you respond in prayer and repent on behalf of our nation? Our sins have reached the heavens!”
God is calling us to seek him, to repent. He is calling us to live holy and upright lives. Do not be fooled by the messages that come from the pulpit that are just given to please the listeners, so they contribute to the church’s coffers and grow in popularity as a social club. “Feel good” messages can take a person to hell. There are people in our churches that are not convicted of sin, because entertainment has replaced the Holy Spirit.
“To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.” Revelation 3:2
God’s judgment comes upon a nation which rebels against God’s established laws:
We are a people who are disrespectful to our elected leaders. The news media is no longer trusted to give the news but to spin a philosophy, and promote a party. We have people teaching our children to despise law and order, and the police. Our children are taught in school that sex is okay, “Just use a condom.” Our cities are full of violence. There is corruption in every governmental department. Sexual immorality is socially acceptable. For many, abortion is simply a matter of birth control, not murder. And fathers are having children that they do not raise or support.
We have to realize that God will not wink at sin—there are consequences:
“The acts of the flesh are obvious; sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.” Galatians 5:19-20
So what do we do about it all?
We pray for hearts to be changed, just like the two men in the earlier vision who turned their backs on the world and chose to live for God. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15
Those of us who are in fellowship with God, and choosing to live to please him, must continue to pray:
Pray for our nation, that the leaders in our country will be God-fearing men and women. Pray that those who hold staff positions in the government will be people of integrity and follow the Lord’s ways. Pray that whatever is hidden in darkness: corruption and wickedness, will be brought to light. And pray for God’s mercy and changed hearts for those in our country who are doing wrong.
Also pray for mercy for those who are abused, neglected, or suffering. Pray for those that are forgotten: those in nursing homes, the veterans who are suffering, and those in prisons.
Pray that God gives those who have lost everything, because of flooding, wind, and fire, will receive godly counsel and the physical things they need.
I know a vision like the island being peeled off the globe, can be a bit scary. So we turn to the Lord who is the healer, the deliverer, the provider and the lifter of our heads. He will show us his peace and give us his Holy Spirit who comforts us. That is why there was a soft blue blanket in the vision. It represents God’s comfort and his peace.
“Do not be anxious about anything but with prayer and petition and thanksgiving present your requests to God and the peace that passes all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
So snuggle up in God’s soft blue blanket. Grab your Bible, and seek his face! God does not want us to worry about the days ahead, or the judgments that may be forthcoming. He wants us to accept his peace, and trust in him.
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
